Born in 1990, Sophia Lemonnier, also known as Lemon, is an artist and designer who graduated from Strate School of Design in 2014 with honors from the jury.
Lemon’s creative process lies somewhere between street art and naive surrealism. It involves giving free rein to her imagination without ever restraining it. From one scene to another, the story unfolds. Her drawings always stem from a felt emotion that she distorts and reinvents to unleash her pencil. It is a delicate balance between her conscious and unconscious mind.
Primarily focused on line work, Lemon’s art does not seek perfection but rather spontaneity. The state she is in determines the density and precision of her drawings. By distorting reality and the mundane, she aims to make them more critical, evocative, and incisive.
The artist captures the details of everyday life and also draws inspiration from graffiti, comics, and sketches. Her illustrations weave a continuous narrative.
Lemon also excels in creating live murals during events where her art can directly engage with the public.
