GALRY - Everything but a gallery

Alice, Guest of Honor at Art Basel Paris 2024: A Journey to Wonderland in the Open Air.

For this new October 2024 edition of Art Basel Paris, contemporary art opens up to the general public with monumental outdoor works.

This year, the magical theme of Alice in Wonderland emerges as a major source of inspiration, particularly in the “hors-les-murs” program. This initiative finds a special resonance with street artist Caro Graffiti. Indeed, her creations are heavily influenced by the fantastical worlds of Tim Burton and Lewis Carroll.

AN ENCHANTING PROGRAM FOCUSED ON ALICE

Art Basel Paris 2024, which will take place from October 18 to 20, goes beyond the Grand Palais. The event extends to various outdoor locations across the capital, where surprising sculptural installations and performances will be part of the “hors-les-murs” program. Among the key themes, Alice in Wonderland promises a true artistic immersion. The gardens of the Palais-Royal and other public spaces will become the stage for dreamlike works of art, where the boundaries between reality and imagination fade away. This theme explores the notion of inner journeys, recalling Alice’s surreal adventure through unexpected worlds.

CARO GRAFFITI AND HER TRIBUTE TO ALICE AND TIM BURTON

Among the artists whose universe particularly resonates with this theme, Caro Graffiti stands out. Indeed, the artist often draws inspiration from the aesthetics of Alice in Wonderland and Tim Burton’s whimsical imagination. Her works, marked by eccentric and tattooed characters, capture the essence of surrealism while inviting the viewer to rediscover childhood through an adult lens. Her art aligns perfectly with this year’s Art Basel Paris program, where art takes to the streets, turning the city’s walls into theater stages. One could easily imagine her Alices coming to life on the façades of Paris.

We look forward to welcoming you at Galry to showcase her sculptures and paintings… and soon in other regions for a new exhibition!
