An Exclusive Exhibition at the LabMusée in Auvers-sur-Oise
This summer, Jordane Saget is the guest of the LabMusée in Auvers-sur-Oise for an exceptional exhibition where his new, site-specific works enter into dialogue with those of Vincent van
Gogh.
Through a series of creations conceived especially for the exhibition, the artist does not seek to reproduce the Dutch master’s iconic paintings. Instead, he extends their spirit.
His signature flowing lines become a contemporary visual language that reveals the movement, energy, and vibrant rhythm already present in Van Gogh’s works. The exhibition offers
visitors a fresh perspective on the master’s oeuvre, inviting them to rediscover it through a contemporary lens.
“Great artists are not imitated—they are engaged in dialogue.”
In May 1890, Vincent van Gogh settled in Auvers-sur-Oise at the suggestion of his brother Theo, seeking both proximity to Paris and the tranquility of the countryside. During the final
seventy days of his life, he created nearly eighty paintings and numerous drawings. This extraordinary burst of creativity has made Auvers-sur-Oise one of the most significant places
in the history of art.
It is in this village—where every path still seems to carry the memory of Van Gogh’s gaze—that Jordane Saget has been invited to present a new series of works. Not to reinterpret
Van Gogh, but to enter into a sensitive dialogue with him, where the language of contemporary line responds to the vibrant energy of his paintings.
More than a century separates Vincent van Gogh and Jordane Saget.
One worked through colour and the expressive richness of paint.
The other creates an almost immaterial universe with a few flowing lines drawn freehand.
Yet both pursue the same ambition: to make the invisible visible.
The breath of the wind.
The vibration of light.
The perpetual movement of life.
It is this encounter between two artistic languages, two gestures, and two sensibilities that the LabMusée d’Auvers-sur-Oise celebrates today.
Following this exceptional exhibition in the very landscapes that inspired Vincent van Gogh, Jordane Saget’s new body of work will continue its journey.
This autumn, GALRY will be delighted to present this remarkable series, offering visitors the opportunity to discover an unprecedented dialogue between one of the greatest painters
in the history of art and one of the leading figures of today’s contemporary art scene.
