Contact usWith Self-Portrait, Jordane Saget continues the dialogue he has established with Vincent van Gogh. Here, he does not seek to depict a face, but rather to evoke a presence through the very essence of his own visual language: the line.
The curves intertwine, cross and extend in an almost continuous movement. Together, they form an inner landscape, a kind of abstract identity in which gesture takes the place of facial features. Like Van Gogh, who made self-portraiture a space for introspection and experimentation, Jordane Saget uses his own artistic vocabulary to tell his story in a different way.
The lighter, more luminous palette echoes Van Gogh’s colours: yellows, blues and earthy tones emerge in fragments, caught within the rhythm of the lines. Rather than borrowing his motifs, Saget allows their energy, vibration and intensity to resonate through his own work.
Self-Portrait thus becomes an encounter between two visual languages separated by more than a century: Van Gogh’s, turbulent and vibrant, and Jordane Saget’s, free-flowing and infinite. A tribute conveyed not through quotation, but through a shared conviction: that gesture and colour can become the expression of an inner world.
