Contact usIn Souvenir d’une nuit étoilée, Alione depicts a Parisian interior still marked by the vibrant traces of an island journey. Back in the capital, the painter seems to have brought home the colors, warmth, and softness of tropical nights, and laid them gently into this luminous living room.
The scene breathes with the afterglow of an evening, the return from travel, and a joyful nostalgia. On the coffee table, the remnants of a shared moment—an unfinished game of dominoes, empty glasses, tropical fruits, half-eaten dishes—suggest an improvised gathering meant to extend, at the heart of Paris, the sensations of the islands.
Objects from the trip intertwine with everyday Parisian life:
a red ukulele resting against an armchair,
a straw hat left on the floor,
an exotic floral arrangement standing proudly at the center of the room,
each one echoing the journey that has only just ended.
In contrast, through the large picture window, the grey rooftops of Paris unfold beneath a clear sky. The city, with its familiar architecture, grounds the scene in reality, while the interior remains imbued with the light, rhythms, and colors brought back from elsewhere.
A painting reminiscent of Van Gogh’s Starry Night dominates the wall: a way of binding two worlds—the turbulent poetry of art and the starry nights recently experienced, perhaps while lying beneath a tropical sky. The orange hammock, lush plants, and colorful patterned cushions all seem to express a desire to hold on, just a little longer, to the magic of the islands.
Souvenir d’une nuit étoilée becomes an intimate portrait of return: that unique moment when the journey is not yet completely behind us, when we still live between two worlds, the soul swept by nostalgia and the gentle warmth of memory.
