Yanis Miltgen

Yanis Miltgen is a Luxembourgish multidisciplinary artist and a graduate of Atelier Chardon Savard in Paris. His practice lies at the intersection of contemporary art and textile arts, where he develops a sculptural approach to embroidery inspired by classicism and architecture.

He first gained recognition with his debut collection, Histoire d’une vie, which received several international distinctions, including the Les de(ux) mains Prize from the Comité Colbert and recognition at the Hand & Lock Prize in London for his innovative approach to art embroidery and textile sculpture.

In 2024, he created two fully embroidered sculptures for Hôtel Le Meurice in Paris on the occasion of the Olympic Games and was awarded the Prix de la jeune création des métiers d’art de France. That same year, he represented Luxembourg at Paris Fashion Week with his piece The Time Lace Dress, created from recycled watch movements.

In December 2024, he received the Start-up Prize of the Grand Duchess of Luxembourg Foundation, which enabled him to produce the monumental work The Tree of Life, presented in 2025 at the Révélations biennial. The same year, he won the prestigious Hand & Lock Prize, becoming the first Luxembourger to receive the award.

Defining himself as a sculptural textile artist and experimental embroidery creator, Yanis Miltgen explores unconventional materials and develops a rigorous creative process. His work investigates themes of nature, time and imagination, creating poetic forms that blur the boundaries between craft, design and contemporary art.

Representing a new generation of artists who challenge disciplinary boundaries, Miltgen merges traditional craftsmanship with a contemporary vision. His work invites viewers to reconsider the relationship between art and design, revealing the beauty that emerges where innovation meets tradition.
