GALRY welcomes the poetic world of Yanis Miltgen, a young Luxembourgish artist whose textile sculptures bring a delicate poetry into bloom
Since last spring, GALRY has been showcasing Luxembourgish artist
Yanis Miltgen and his textile sculptures, where flowers transcend the passing of time. In the face of the anxieties of our age, his poetic world invites us to nurture beauty,
memory and hope.
From Thread to Sculpture: A Distinctive Artistic Language
Some works of art invite us to slow down. To see things differently. To rediscover that sense of wonder that everyday life sometimes allows to lie dormant. Yanis Miltgen’s creations possess
this gentle strength.
A graduate of Atelier Chardon Savard in Paris, the young Luxembourgish artist first explored his creativity through fashion before expanding his artistic world into sculpture. Drawing inspiration
from literature, architecture and classicism, he uses embroidery, knitting and crochet to develop a deeply personal artistic language. In his hands, thread takes on volume, branches
grow freely and blossoms become landscapes.
Awarded the Comité Colbert’s “Les de(ux) mains” prize in 2023, he created two entirely embroidered sculptures for the Parisian palace hotel Le Meurice in 2024, before presenting
his monumental installation The Tree of Life at Révélations, at the Grand Palais, in 2025. In 2026, his inclusion in the Homo Faber Guide and the acquisition of his work The Words’
Weaver by the Artothèque of Luxembourg’s Ministry of Culture recognised an artistic practice at the intersection of contemporary art and fine craftsmanship.
Last spring, the exhibition Éclosions marked the first encounter between Yanis Miltgen’s artistic world and GALRY. Since then, his works have continued to bloom within the gallery…
What if flowers could live forever?
Behind the lightness of the flowers lie profound questions: the passage of time, the fear of loss, the fragility of all we hold dear. To give them form, Yanis Miltgen draws on his happiest
memories. Childhood wonder, shared moments and tenderness become the invisible substance of his sculptures.
Each petal, each leaf, each branch emerges from a patient gesture. Some creations bring together hundreds, sometimes thousands, of textile elements, each individually crafted by hand. Through
this repetition, something is preserved: an emotion, a presence, the light of a memory.
His flowers give lasting life to what we wish to hold on to. They lend enduring form to the fleeting beauty of our days.
DELICACY AS STRENGTH
In a France experiencing tensions and a world marked by conflict, violence and uncertainty, these imagined creations strike a particular chord.
Yanis Miltgen embraces these anxieties in his work and transforms them. The slowness of each gesture creates room to breathe. Colours awaken joy. Flowers compose a world in which fragility
deserves care and protection.
His works can thus be read as an allegory of peace: a peace to be cultivated patiently, through the care devoted to every element and the harmony of the whole. Their gentleness carries
a conviction: tenderness, dreams and beauty have a vital place in the way we inhabit the world.
FLOWERS TO SHARE
While these sculptures are rooted in the artist’s own story, they also awaken ours. Each of us may rediscover a childhood memory, a cherished presence or the sweetness of a moment we
thought forgotten.
At GALRY, we were moved by this meeting of technical virtuosity and depth of purpose. Welcoming Yanis Miltgen means sharing an artistic vision that reminds us how wonder can nurture our
vitality and our longing for connection.
Through his blossoms, an invitation takes shape: to care for what we hold dear and, together, to keep hope in bloom.
« I sow flowers so that the ephemeral, too, has a chance to become eternal. »
